The inspiring story of Alice’s life and campaign for the vote is one that underpins the core British Values taught in schools of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect for others. Peter highlights these cornerstone values throughout his assembly and class presentations, each of which are varied according to the age of pupils.

Early Years are very interactive sessions and, according to time available, cover Alice’s life via a power point illustrating national heritage standard memorabilia still with the family, a fun suffragette quiz and a short dvd feature on the making and unveiling of the statue of Alice (February 2018). Suffragette sashes for all the class to wear!

Secondary school presentations delve more deeply into the motivations that lead Alice to become a suffragette and can vary from an interactive class session, to a 30-50 minute podium presentation. Selected female students are invited to be ‘Alice’ through oral readings of her own words.

Peter also, where appropriate, gives an engaging and fun account of being invited to be an ‘extra’ in the film ‘Suffragette’. Always of interest to drama students!

School visits can vary from assembly, individual class to multiple classes/full days on site.
